AML/CTF Supervision Reform: Duties, Powers and Accountability Consultation

IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, November 2025

Following the Government’s decision to appoint the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as the future supervisor for Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF) compliance in legal, accountancy, and trust and company service providers, HM Treasury published a consultation on 6 November seeking views on the powers, duties, and accountability mechanisms the FCA will need to be an effective supervisor. This consultation outlines proposals for a more streamlined and strong supervisory framework.

Views are welcomed from stakeholders across the AML-regulated population. Your views will be essential in helping to shape a proportionate and robust system that supports both compliance and sectoral growth. This consultation closes on 24 December 2025. You can access the consultation document here.
