IPA Learning | Ethics in Insolvency Update 2026

Monday 18th May 2026 | 12:00 – 14:00 | Online | CPD: 2 Hours
In our third free-to-members IPA Learning webinar of 2026, we focus on the Insolvency Code of Ethics, revised with effect from 1 October 2025. The Code is the foundation of our approach as insolvency practitioners and is the standard against which we will be measured in the event of an inspection, complaint or a breach. How do we comply with the Code in practice?
In this webinar we will focus on:
- The conceptual framework – how the various types of threats might impact compliance with each of the fundamental principles.
- Identifying threats associated with the use of technology – what might that look like
- Evaluating threats and how to be satisfied they are reduced to an acceptable level
- Referral fees – what does the Code say and what does it mean in practice
- Conflicts of interest as threats to the fundamental principle of objectivity; guidance on how such threats could be eliminated and how safeguards may be used.
- Insufficient expertise as a threat to fundamental principle of professional competence and due care
- Record keeping – making sure it is relevant and sufficient
- ethical conflict resolution – issues and application
- Summary of published sanctions in 2025 – themes, breaches and penalties
Speakers
Eileen Maclean, director at ISS Training and Anna Dickinson, Senior Regulation Officer at the IPA will lead the discussion and share some ideas on how to improve your approach to these specific aspects of the Code.
As always, there will be an opportunity for delegates to ask questions and share experience of the subject under discussion.
This webinar will be recorded, and a link to view this will be shared with all delegates following the event.
