Louise Brittain, President
IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, July 2026
Dear members,
It was a pleasure to welcome so many insolvency professionals from across the region to last week’s Birmingham Roadshow for a day of discussion, learning and practical insight. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and I look forward to meeting our members in Northern Ireland next as we head to Belfast on 9th September.
This month saw the IPA publish its response to the Insolvency Service’s 2025 Annual Review of Insolvency Practitioner Regulation. We welcomed the Service’s commitment to improving transparency and developing a better understanding of the different regulatory approaches adopted by the Recognised Professional Bodies. At the same time, we reiterated our long-standing view that greater consistency across insolvency regulation benefits debtors, creditors and practitioners alike, and that a more unified regulatory framework remains the best long-term outcome for the profession. The IPA will continue to engage constructively with the Insolvency Service and government to help shape that future.
Finally, I would encourage members to keep Anti-Money Laundering (AML) firmly on their professional agenda. The risks facing the profession continue to evolve, while the supervisory landscape is also changing with the FCA set to assume responsibility for AML supervision of Insolvency Practitioners. Keeping your knowledge and compliance framework up to date has never been more important. Our Spotlight on AML & Fraud Conference this September will provide practical guidance on emerging risks, regulatory developments and effective compliance. I hope many of you will take the opportunity to join us.
For some there will now be the opportunity to enjoy a well deserved rest. Whatever you are doing this summer the IPA wishes you well.
Kind regards,
Louise Brittain
