Yin Lee, President
IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, July 2025
It was a pleasure to host the IPA Roadshow in Leeds recently – and what a fantastic city it is! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many members and delegates who are deeply engaged with the pressing issues facing our profession. The energy and insight shared were truly heartening.
I’m now looking forward to the next stop on our journey: the Scotland Roadshow in Glasgow next month. There, we’ll delve into the unique aspects of insolvency practice in Scotland and continue the important conversations that are shaping the future of our field.
On behalf of the IPA, I recently wrote to Justin Madders MP, Minister for Employment Rights, Competition and Markets, regarding the Government’s proposed reforms to insolvency regulation. We fully support the Government’s aim to reduce regulatory burdens and stimulate economic growth, and I made clear that the IPA is committed to working collaboratively to help achieve this.
In my letter, I highlighted three key areas where reform is both necessary and beneficial:
- Modernising insolvency legislation – to reduce unnecessary burdens on Insolvency Practitioners (IPs), enabling faster proceedings and lower costs without compromising quality or assurance
- Improving the regulatory framework – to eliminate duplication and reduce costs across the system
- Simplifying procedures at the Insolvency Service – to make processes more efficient and accessible
I was pleased to receive a very positive response from the Minister, who expressed a strong interest in opening a dialogue with the IPA.
You can read both letters here.
Additionally, I have written to the new Small Business Commissioner, Emma Jones CBE, to explore how her office can support the work of IPs, particularly in their engagement with small businesses and efforts to enhance financial resilience across the economy.
I look forward to continuing this important work in the months ahead and ensuring that the voices of our members are heard loud and clear. If you have thoughts on how we can improve regulation or support the profession more effectively, I would genuinely love to hear from you.
