IPA membership renewals deadline approaching

Liquidations in the Republic of Ireland after 31 December 2020

Important information for IPA licence holders who act as liquidators in the Republic of Ireland

Irish Companies Act 2014 (CA2014) S633 requirements

At present, although the IPA is not a ‘Prescribed Accountancy Body’ (PAB)1 under CA2014, its insolvency licence holders are able to accept appointments as liquidators in Ireland under Category 4 set out in S633 CA2014 as they are qualified under the laws of another European Economic Area (EEA) state, namely the UK.

After 31 December 2020, this will cease to be the case as the UK will no longer be a member of the EEA and the transitional provisions of the Brexit agreement will have expired.

Action required

Unless you are a member of a PAB, you may be affected by this change if you hold any appointments as Liquidator of companies registered in the Republic of Ireland, so please contact Rowan Duffin-Jones, rowand@ipa.uk.com, for further information.

1 The PABs are ACCA, AIA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, ICAI, ICAS and ICPAI
