IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, July 2025

Dear members,

Thanks to those of you who attended our successful roadshow in Leeds recently. And I was also pleased to chair a productive roundtable on firm regulation and potential changes to personal insolvency in Manchester. We will continue to work with you in both areas to ensure the Insolvency Service gets its changes right. In that respect, I was delighted that the Minister responsible for insolvency, Justin Madders MP, responded favourably to the letter from the IPA’s President Yin Lee this month. The IPA is determined to help create a better framework for UK insolvency regulation. We will keep you posted as we do so. If you wish to engage in that discussion, do get in touch.

Amongst other updates in this newsletter, please look at the changes to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, and a ‘Red Alert’ issued by the National Crime Agency on sanctions evasion linked to Russia. Please review these as they may have implications for your practice.

On AML matters, I write this from Leeds where I am at a joint conference between the IPA and the University of Leeds on money laundering in UK insolvency proceedings, as a demonstration of the seriousness that the IPA attaches to this.

Finally, I look forward to meeting more of you in Glasgow at our next Roadshow on 28 August. In the meantime, have a great summer.

Best wishes,

Marcial Boo
