Have your say: AML/CTF supervision reform: Duties, powers and accountability consultation; upcoming HM Treasury roundtable discussions

IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, November 2025

Dear members,

It was great to see many of you at the IPA’s Personal Insolvency conference in Manchester last week, where we discussed the state of the sector and the likely changes to the regime coming from the Insolvency Service. We intend to publish our views on the Government’s plans shortly.

There are more changes coming on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), with the Government announcing that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will assume responsibility for supervising legal, accountancy and trust and company service providers. The IPA is reviewing these proposals and engaging with the FCA and others to assess their implications. We will keep you updated and share our views in due course.

We will soon launch our IPA Member Survey so you can share your feedback and help shape our work. Your views will help us to improve and I encourage you to take part.

Our next IPA Learning webinar takes place next week, focusing on the Insolvency Guidance Paper: Dealing with Complaints. This session will help ensure you can apply it in practice.

Nick Myers, Director at Leonard Curtis, is retiring from his role as IPA’s Chief Examiner. I’m grateful for his many years of dedicated service in the role. In his place, I’m delighted to welcome Antoinette Thorpe, Principal at Artemis Insolvency Services and IPA Board member, who will bring her extensive experience and a strong understanding of the profession.

Finally, I look forward to meeting more of you at the London Roadshow at the end of the month. It will be a day of expert insights, discussion and networking. Hope to see you there. With all best wishes for now.
