As we head into a busy and important period for the profession, it’s been fantastic to see such strong engagement across our events and member activity.
Last month, we held a hugely successful evening for the IPA Awards Charity Dinner. My congratulations go to all our winners, and my thanks to everyone who joined us. Most importantly, the event raised funds for Dementia UK, our chosen charity. To all of you who I have taken personal portraits of, I’ll be posting your portraits as soon as I can – thank you for your patience. We are also continuing to strengthen the technical support available to members, with the launch of two focused resources, our monthly Technical Insights newsletter and the Technical Lead bulletin, both initiatives led by Ben Luxford, whom many of you will know from R3. From my own experience in practice, I know just how valuable clear, practical guidance can be, and I’m especially pleased to see this becoming a regular part of our offering.
Looking ahead, our Annual Conference takes place this Wednesday in London, and it could not have come at a better time. With personal insolvency reform, firm regulation and the transition of AML supervision to the Financial Conduct Authority all on the horizon, the conference provides a vital opportunity to hear directly from those shaping these developments, including senior representatives from the Insolvency Service and the FCA.
Alongside the big‑picture insight, the conference is also a chance to connect with peers and earn 6 hours’ CPD. I will be sharing a new initiative that I have been working on with the IPA – in fact, it is probably the thing I am proudest of in my Presidential year as it will hopefully make a significant difference.
As this is my penultimate newsletter, I want to share that I will be stepping down as President of the IPA in late May, when I will hand over the presidential reins to Louise Britain.
