IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, January 2024

Dear members,

I hope this message finds you well as we embark on the new year, and welcome to the IPA to all new members who have recently joined us.

As you may know from recent communications, the IPA has selected its 2024 Charity of the Year, Feeding Britain, a remarkable organisation committed to tackling hunger and food poverty across the UK. Led by the Archbishop of Canterbury as its President, the charity has amongst other work secured hundreds of million pounds’ worth of support for those in need across the UK.

The rescheduled IPA Awards on 5th March (owing to last year’s national rail strikes) will be held in support of Feeding Britain and will have a refreshed format, including a three-course dinner, live entertainment and guest presenters. I hope you can join us for what should be a fabulous evening and celebration for the profession in the early part of this year.

Our first IPA Learning webinar of the year on 6th February, on the vital topic of employing the Code of Ethics in practice, is fast approaching. This should be a useful update for many. On the back of our recent AML Digest at the tail end of last year and with the continued threat from Russia and Belarus impacting insolvency work, we follow with the next webinar dedicated to the latest AML developments on 19th March – further details to be announced.

On 14th March I will be hosting my final Roadshow as IPA President in Cardiff before I hand over the Presidency to Yin Lee of Evelyn Partners at April’s flagship Annual Conference. In Cardiff we will once again be welcoming the Bank of England to provide an update on the economy, as well as the Insolvency Service and Companies House for the latest news and policy developments, plus more speakers to be announced from the business world, market research and leading legal and insolvency practices. If you’re based in and around Wales, I hope to see you there!

Best wishes,

Paul Davis
