Paul Davis, President

Dear Members,

I was saddened to hear the news that Ian Bond, a well-known and respected figure in the insolvency profession, recently passed away. Ian made significant contributions to the profession throughout his career and left an indelible mark on our community. He also served as President of the IPA from 1990-92, being only one of two Presidents serving a term longer than one year. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ian’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held for Ian in September. Please do email the membership team for details if you would like to attend.

It was a pleasure to host the Leeds Roadshow earlier this month, where I had the opportunity to meet with our members in the north and with speakers joining us from organisations including the Bank of England, the Insolvency Service, Eversheds Sutherland and the EY Foundation. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. Read more about the afternoon here.

Next month I’ll be in Glasgow for our Scotland Roadshow on 24th August. This event presents a valuable opportunity to understand the latest national, regional and devolved matters affecting insolvency practice and strengthen professional connections, and I am looking forward to hosting once again along with our speakers from organisations including the Accountant in Bankruptcy, the Bank of England, HMRC, Citizens Advice Scotland and the University of Glasgow. Read more here.

As you will note from recent communications, we’re also turning our attention to the 2023 IPA Awards. With the work of the insolvency profession more vital than ever, it’s important we recognise achievement, promote excellence and inspire others to enter the profession. Along with my fellow Office Holders, Yin Lee, Adrian Hyde and Samantha Keen, I will be serving on the judging panel again this year, and I would encourage you all to nominate someone who you feel should be recognised. I’m looking forward to seeing the many accomplishments that our peers in the profession have achieved over the past year. Click here for more information and the nomination form.

Best wishes,

Paul Davis
