IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, May 2024

Dear members,

I enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with many of you at our flagship Annual Conference last month. I’m pleased to report that it was a resounding success with nearly 250 people in attendance. My sincere thanks to all those who supported the day, from our expert speakers to our sponsors Manolete, Marsh, Restore and Lumon plus our exhibitors, Henderson and Jones, Armalytix, Ambition Recruitment, NTI and not forgetting our own team who delivered the event. Post-event feedback has been extremely positive and we are delighted that you enjoyed the day.  We look forward to our next conference, dedicated to the important topic of AML and fraud, in September.

April also saw the publication of our Impact Report 2023/24. As we navigate through a period of heightened activity in the insolvency sector and anticipate a new era for the profession in terms of regulatory reform, the report comes at a good time in illustrating the work of the IPA – from our work in regulation and monitoring to our robust commitment to the fight against money laundering, our industry-leading Volume Provider Regulation (VPR) Scheme, our work with stakeholders to develop the insolvency framework and our support and advocacy for our members. If you haven’t already, do take some time to read through the report.

Members should be aware that the IPA’s Regulatory Rules have recently been updated and approved by the Board. The revisions extend the ability to issue Advisory Notices to the IPA’s Regulation team as well as the Monitoring team. Advisory Notices are used to formally advise an IP to improve their behaviour, systems and/or technical approach within a timescale.

I look forward to connecting with some of you again at our now sold-out Manchester Roadshow on 5th June. If you wanted to attend, you can join the waiting list here, or you may wish to attend the Leeds Roadshow as an alternative.

Best wishes,

Paul Smith
