IPA Insolvency Practitioner newsletter, September 2024

Dear members,

You will be aware that there is now only a week to go until the Extraordinary General Meeting seeking approval of the IPA’s updated and modernised Articles of Association, taking place on 19th September.

The new Articles will help ensure the IPA can continue to operate in an efficient and agile manner amid the shifting regulatory landscape. Please do have your say by submitting your proxy forms (a link to this accompanied the notice of the EGM) ahead of the deadline of midday on 18th September. I look forward to seeing those attending the EGM in London next Thursday.

Also on 19th September, a key webinar takes place in the afternoon on control of cases, ahead of the expected release of the linked new Insolvency Guidance Paper (IGP) this month. Do come along if you are able to, for this important update.

Turning to our live events programme, an engaging afternoon was had at our recent Glasgow Roadshow, and up next, after our sold-out Spotlight on AML and Fraud Conference in Birmingham, we head to Belfast for the penultimate Roadshow before the series finishes in London in November if you are looking to top up your CPD.

Members can now download our 2024 Insolvency Practitioners Handbook, which for the first time is available in digital searchable format only, in response to member feedback. Download the handbook here (member login required).

Finally, and as is reflected in the President’s message, I will soon be stepping down from my role as CEO of the IPA. Having joined on an interim basis initially back in 2021 before taking on the role permanently, I am pleased to have led the IPA through the consultation process on the future of regulation and our ensuing discussions with key agencies and stakeholders on regulatory reform. As I focus on other commitments, now is the time for a new CEO to take the helm as the regulatory landscape continues to develop. I am proud to have led the IPA through the last few years and have enjoyed meeting many of you at our events around the country – best wishes from me to you all in your future endeavours.
