Samantha Keen, President

I am delighted to write this message following the final two devolved nations events in our national Roadshow Series – Northern Ireland (online) and Cardiff. We heard from  the Northern Ireland Insolvency Service, Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses, Chambers Wales, and many more. I hope these events were useful to our members. As a UK-wide regulator, it is vital to the IPA that we connect with all our members nationwide. The roadshows offer the perfect opportunity to meet members and hear your views. Read more about the events here, and view the Roadshow calendar for the remainder of the year here.

As already communicated to those who booked to attend the IPA Summer Party, we took the difficult decision to cancel the event due to the UK rail strikes and severe knock-on disruption to transport services for the whole week. With the school holiday season approaching, we have decided to reschedule the party to 9th November, which will be combined with the IPA Annual Awards to celebrate our members’ achievements – we hope to see you there. All Summer Party bookings remain valid for the autumn event. Read more here.

Looking ahead to other upcoming activity, the next IPA Learning session will discuss how to get your approach to giving advice in insolvency right – both pre- and post-appointment, and look at commonly-identified issues by the IPA Regulation and Monitoring team. Advice requires a careful, well-informed approach in insolvency work, and I would encourage members to join this session for an important refresher. Read more here.

I’m also looking forward to the IPA’s Diversity Forum which is planned for October. We aim to make meaningful progress in promoting diversity within the insolvency profession – something which is currently lacking and is a strong passion of mine. Look out for further details on this important event.
